Wednesday, March 23, 2005 Sydney - Last year's nudist weekend at the Elephant Rock Naturist Retreat near Brisbane was such a success that an even bigger clothes-less festival is planned for later this month at an Australian Pacific coast resort. Friday, March 18, 2005 I should have known the column on porn would get a response of "don't look at it." This is an ignorant response. Porn objectifies and demeans women; this is a fact. Claiming that they would do it anyway in no way makes its availability any more acceptable. In my opinion, the best way to slow porn sales is to stop making nudity so taboo. Yes, I am a conservative Christian, so me saying this will surprise anyone that has read anything else I've written here. In this country, nudity is all about sex. Sex is everything, and sex sells everything. Porn sells well in this country because just the sight of nude bodies is titillating. In Europe, where non-sexual mixed nudity is socially accepted and quite prevalent at beaches and on television, porn sales are much lower than in the States. Teen pregnancy and abortion rates are much lower, and teens wait on average 1.5 years longer to have intercourse. This is because attitudes toward nudity are far less sexualized in Europe than here. Pastor Robert Wright, 51, is to hold weekly fellowship meetings at a nudist resort near Brisbane, reports the Australian Daily Telegraph. Mr Wright, who has been a naturist for more than 16 years, said: "I am not trying to get Christians to become nudists, I am catering for Christians who are nudists." Read More |
