Nude students on a losing streak
A noble attempt to further the cause of human nakedness sadly fell short in Colorado, when three students' attempt to gather together a record-breaking number of streakers missed the target by only 1,057 naked people. The attempt by Colorado State University students Charlie Scheid, Rob Thomas and Nick Thomas to break the world streaking record - previously set in University of Colorado (not the same thing as Colorado State) in Boulder - resulted in 133 people running naked around a field after a college football match. Sadly, their noble and slightly chilly efforts were in vain, as the current record stands at 1,200 streakers. Rob Thomas had boasted before the event that: 'Online, we have 500 plus confirmed to attend and 895 possible shows and with the help of the 'Rocky Mountain Collegian' we should have no problem breaking the record.' Nudist club seeks new enthusiasts
All you need is your sleeping gear, some food and a healthy stock of sunblock. Southland's one and only naturist's club - the Southern Sun and Health Club - held an open day at its peaceful and charming country setting near Otautau yesterday. The nudist club owns the old Aparima School site and is keen to bolster its membership, which is lingering at about 15 people. Club secretary Deryn said a couple of couples and one or two other interested people dropped by to check out the setup, which includes a pool, tennis court, barbecue, kitchen and hall and plenty of space for a game of cricket, or maybe even swingball. The club offered a relaxed atmosphere for people and some felt more inclined to bare a bit of skin there than in public at a swimming pool or at the beach. Read More

Nudist resorts baring themselves to outside world
Clothing-free resorts have traditionally been rustic, mom-and-pop campgrounds hidden deep in the woods, away from prying eyes and bluenosed politicians. But now, fancy nude recreation spots are springing up along major highways, and resort owners are joining chambers of commerce, sponsoring charity drives and hosting civic events. "We're no longer hiding," said Joe Lettelleir, owner of Dawsonville, Georgia's Paradise Valley Resort, who this summer proved his point by taking a cross-country trip on a bus that dared onlookers to call a toll-free number for more information. The Dawsonville resort was once so secretive it was called Hidden Valley. It is tucked along a winding country lane, and once consisted of little more than a few RV sites around a foot-deep pond. But now it is undergoing a major luxury expansion. Neighbors and business owners are encouraged to stop by for a look at the 108-acre property, which was turned into a clothing-optional resort to encourage more visitors. And annual fundraisers for local charities draw hundreds of motorcyclists and joggers to its gates. Read More

Top designer's hat trick with naked model
In a cheeky parody, avantgarde Turkish-born, British based designer Hussein Chalayan shocked the Paris Fashion Week crowd yesterday by sending a model down the runway wearing little more than a hat and a fetching pair of heels. Perhaps this pared-down part his collection will be available shops - as the Emperor's New Clothes range? Read More

Naked teen town: Brattleboro, Vt
We'd like to introduce you to the naked teens of Brattleboro, Vt. Young people are taking full frontal advantage of the lack of state or local laws banning public nudity, the Globe explains. And it seems some townsfolk aren't happy. One local bookstore employee explains how the trend started last year. "The nudity began in earnest this year, Brooks said, when one young woman decided she wanted to bare her chest in public, just like her male friends. Since then, the no-clothes fashion has gained popularity and has expanded to include group bike rides, skateboarding, hula-hoop contests, and a grass-roots music event that the group dubbed the Brat Fest."
