Getting butt naked in front of others to swim, picnic or play petanque may not be everyone's idea of fun.

But ask a naturist about its appeal and words such as soothing, relaxing and liberating are offered up as reasons to go a la naturale.
Albert Wayers and June Campbell-Tong of the Wellington Naturists Club are eager to spread the word during the club's open weekend, which starts today.

People can stroll in the 15-acre grounds just north of Upper Hutt and check out the facilities, which include a spa, sauna and swimming pool. There are caravans and cabins nestled amongst native bush, along with a barbecue area and sports facilities.
